What is Phalloplasty?

Phalloplasty creates a penis using tissue from another part of your body, allowing for larger size and enhanced function compared to metoidioplasty. There are three main tissue donor options: forearm, thigh, or back. The forearm graft generally provides the best sensation, blood flow, and natural girth.

Along with constructing the shaft, our skilled surgeons perform additional procedures like vaginectomy, urethral lengthening, and sculpting the scrotum. Later, we craft the head of the penis (glansplasty), insert testicular implants, and if desired, penis implants for erection capability and penetrative sex.

Phalloplasty is complex, so Dr. McClung partners closely with urologic surgeon Dr. Santosh Kale to provide meticulous, two-surgeon phalloplasty procedures. Together, their goal is optimal aesthetics, erogenous sensation, and functional abilities to help you fully realize your gender identity.
